What Are Gentle Reforms?

Workouts that work. Without wearing you out.

Forget the idea that exercise has to hurt to be effective. Gentle Reformer is built on the opposite philosophy: that intelligent training beats high-intensity training every time when the body needs to train smart.

We work through the entire body in every class—back, abs, arms, legs, ankles, and knees. The difference from Classic isn’t whether you work out. The difference is how we work out. Slower pace. Fewer repetitions in a row. More focus on control, mobility, and full range of motion in the joints.

You walk out and can tell you've been working. You don't walk out limping.

How the Reformer is Gentle on Your Body

The Reformer isn't just another piece of exercise equipment. It's designed specifically to do two things at once: work your muscles and take the strain off your joints.

Resistance from springs—not from weight

Free-weight training puts stress on your joints every time you lift against gravity. The Reformer uses adjustable springs that provide resistance via a sliding seat. Your joints aren’t under compression. Your muscles do the work. Your knees, hips, shoulders, and wrists don’t.

Lying and sitting positions

Most exercises are performed while lying down or sitting on the sliding carriage. This eliminates impact and allows us to build strength in positions where the body is supported—and where you can focus on control rather than struggling to maintain balance.

Adjustable resistance per side

If you need to take it easier on one knee than the other, or if one shoulder is weaker after surgery, we can adjust the resistance on each side individually. You’ll be working out symmetrically, even if your body isn’t.

Full range of motion without risk

Stiff joints become more flexible when they are moved through their full range of motion—in a controlled manner. The Reformer’s design allows us to move further through the range of motion than with standard floor exercises, because the slide supports you the entire way.

What you do

Full body, every time

Back, arms, thighs, ankles, knees, abs. No muscle groups are left out—there’s no “leg day” or “arm day.” You work your entire body in a single session.

Mobility and movement

Stiff joints need to be moved to become more flexible. We consciously work through the joints’ full range of motion—at a pace your body can keep up with.

Strength without putting strain on the joints

Spring resistance builds real muscle strength. But your knees, wrists, and shoulders aren’t under compression. You’re working the muscle—not the joint.

Balance and Body Control

The deep muscles that keep you upright are worked in every class. Better balance on the Reformer translates directly to better balance when you’re walking down stairs, getting up from a chair, or bending down to pick something up.

Neck, shoulders, and posture

Targeted exercises open up the chest, lower the shoulders, and strengthen the upper back. For many people, headaches caused by neck tension disappear after 4–6 sessions.

Who is the team designed for?

Skånsom Reformer supports:

  • Men and women with stiff or painful joints
  • If you've had knee, hip, shoulder, or breast surgery and are getting back on track
  • If you have difficulty maintaining your balance or strength in your daily life
  • For those of you who have taken a break from working out and want to get back into it gradually
  • For those of you who train hard elsewhere but want to supplement your routine with pure mobility and control
  • All ages — there is no upper or lower limit

After surgery — important:

Always get clearance from your doctor, surgeon, or physical therapist before you start. Once you have that, the Reformer is often the best place to continue your training—because we can control the resistance so precisely that no area is subjected to more than it can handle.

Here's how the team operates

The pace is slow enough that you can listen to your body. Fast enough that it gets a workout.

The instructor walks around during the class, correcting your form, adjusting the resistance, and offering an easier or harder version of the exercise if you need it. You’re not left on your own with an instructor hanging from a lyre hook at the other end of the room—we’re right there with you.

The team is focused. No comparisons, no egos, no mirrors that measure you against others. You work with your body, not against others'.

What people typically notice:

After 1–2 sessions: less stiffness in the morning. After 3–5 sessions: improved mobility in the back and hips. After 6–10 sessions: noticeable improvements in strength and balance in daily life. Consistency is key—we recommend twice a week as a starting point.

I love the energy it gives me after a workout, and I can already feel the difference in my flexibility and core strength.

I was skeptical at first—Pilates and bungee didn’t sound like something for an old soccer player. But after just one trial class, I was sold. The workouts are intense, challenging, and fun all at the same time. Three of my friends have started now, too.

Definitely the best Reformers class in Copenhagen. A clean and inviting space, skilled instructors, and you can really feel the difference after just a few weeks.

As a new mom, it was hard to find the time and motivation to work out. Energii made it easy—flexible class times, booking through the app, and instructors who understand that you’re not always at 100%. I’ve regained my strength and found a new sense of community to boot.

I’ve been a member for over three years now, and the quality has only gotten better. New classes, new locations, and always with a focus on quality over quantity. My friends and I have made it our regular Thursday ritual—it’s equal parts socializing and intense workout.

Bungee Fly is addictive! It's the most fun workout I've ever tried.

Energii has completely transformed my daily life. I started out with a bad back and constant tension headaches. After just two months of working out three times a week, the pain is almost gone, and I sleep like a baby. The instructors remember your name and tailor the exercises to you—that makes all the difference.

I’ve tried many different gyms, but Energii is in a league of its own. The equipment is always in perfect condition, the classes are varied, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. My body has never felt better than it does after six months of regular Reformer training here.

A top-notch experience! A wide selection of centers and classes, yet they still provide wonderful, personalized service when you contact them by email. And excellent service when it comes to changing your membership after a mistaken purchase—thanks, Energii :)

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions you most often have about this class.

The general recommendation is 6–8 weeks after giving birth. We always recommend that you see your midwife or doctor for a checkup before you start—even if you feel ready. Every body is different, and a proper start is more important than a quick one.
Yes. The class is open to both pregnant women and new mothers. The exercises are tailored to your current fitness level.
You’re welcome to join us as soon as your midwife or doctor gives you the go-ahead to exercise (typically 6–8 weeks after giving birth). You can bring your baby along for up to 12 months.
It’s completely natural—and totally fine. You can take a break whenever you need to, tend to your baby, and hop back on the Reformer when you’re ready. The class is designed with that in mind.
In that case, you need to be especially careful. The Reformer has moving parts where small fingers can get caught. You are responsible for keeping a close eye on the entire group at all times.
No. The class is designed for both beginners and those who exercised before becoming pregnant. You’ll receive clear instructions and help finding the right level.
No. It’s real reformer training—but with a focus on what your body actually needs right now: your pelvic floor, deep core muscles, back, and posture. It’s targeted strength training, not just a break on a mat.
The Mom & Baby class is reserved for mothers and their babies. If your partner would like to work out on the Reformer, we recommend our Classic or Signature classes.
Yes—and that’s usually a natural progression. When your baby can no longer join the class, or when you feel ready for a more intense workout, you can move on to our other Reformer classes.
Yes, you’re required to wear non-slip socks and gloves for all our classes—they ensure a secure grip on the Reformer and are required for hygiene reasons. If you don’t have a set, you can purchase them at the center so you can always get started, no matter what.
Comfortable, form-fitting workout clothes are ideal—loose clothing can get caught in the Reformer’s moving parts. Remember to bring grip socks and gloves (available for purchase at the center). No special shoes are required—Reformer Pilates is done in socks.
